# Field Service Management Software Compared: How JobOpsPro Stacks Up Against The Big Platforms

A category-by-category comparison of JobOpsPro against legacy enterprise suites, mid-market platforms, and lightweight scheduling apps — on features, pricing model, and what sits behind a higher tier.

Ask three contractors what field service software costs and you will get three very different answers, because the platforms in this category are priced in very different ways. Some charge a base platform fee plus per-user seats. Some quote per user but hold half the product in a higher tier. Some require an implementation fee and an annual contract before you see the dispatch board with your own data in it.

This comparison is organized by category rather than a vendor grid, because vendors change their plans faster than any article can track. Names such as ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, Service Fusion, and FieldEdge come up in most searches; each fits one of the patterns below. Confirm current pricing and plan contents with any vendor directly before you decide.

## The four categories

### Legacy all-in-one enterprise suites

Deep functionality, built for shops with a dedicated dispatcher, a controller, and often a full-time system administrator. Usually quoted rather than published, commonly a few hundred dollars a month and up, with paid implementation and an annual agreement. Excellent if you have twenty trucks and someone whose job is the software. Heavy if you have five.

### Mid-market home service platforms

The most crowded category, and the one most residential shops actually shop. Published starting prices look approachable, but the starting plan usually caps users, and the modules owners care about most — memberships, inventory, advanced reporting — sit one or two tiers up. Budget the tier you will actually be on.

### Lightweight scheduling apps

Fast to adopt and cheap per seat. Great calendars, decent invoicing, thin everywhere else: no real equipment history, no purchase orders, limited membership handling. Shops outgrow them around the point they hire a third technician.

### JobOpsPro

One product, one price. $25 per user per month, unlimited customers and jobs, every module in the same plan, month to month, no implementation fee.

## Side by side

| Capability | JobOpsPro | Legacy enterprise suites | Mid-market platforms | Lightweight apps |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Pricing model | Flat $25 per user | Quoted, tiered | Base fee + per user, tiered | Per user |
| Dispatch board with routing | Included | Included | Included | Partial |
| Equipment history per unit | Included | Included | Varies by tier | Rare |
| Tiered good/better/best estimates | Included | Varies | Usually higher tier | Rare |
| Inventory, vendors, purchase orders | Included | Included | Usually higher tier | No |
| Maintenance memberships | Included | Varies | Usually higher tier | No |
| Customer portal and online booking | Included | Varies | Included | Partial |
| Email delivery and open-rate analytics | Included | Rare | Rare | No |
| Implementation fee | None | Common | Common | None |
| Annual contract | No | Often | Often | No |

## The questions that actually separate them

**What is in the plan you will be on?** Not the starting plan. Write down the five things your shop needs weekly, then ask which tier contains all five.

**What happens as you hire?** A flat per-seat price scales predictably. A base fee plus seats plus module upgrades does not.

**Who does the setup?** If a platform requires paid onboarding before the product is usable, that cost belongs in your first-year number.

**Can you leave?** Month-to-month terms and a clean export are worth real money when the fit is wrong.

## Where JobOpsPro is the right answer

Residential HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other trade shops running roughly two to thirty seats, who want dispatch, field work, estimates, invoicing, inventory, memberships, and a customer portal without tier shopping. Three technicians and one office person is $100 a month. Twelve technicians and three office staff is $375.

## Where it is not

If you need enterprise payroll integration, a dedicated call center module, or franchise-level rollups across dozens of locations, a legacy suite is a better fit and worth its price.
